Updates.

Hey guys, how's everyone doing?

The ESCC Walkathon was a success! Thank you to everyone who participated, and I hope you enjoyed yourselves because I certainly did. Not only did I enjoy myself, I burned some calories too. And it's all for a good cause! :) Photos can be found HERE and HERE.

I am very excited because school holidays are just around the corner! But I know the Form 3s and Form 5s won't be enjoying their holidays because they have to revise and study. But it's okay, at least you guys get a break from school, right? So, study hard but also remember to take some time off for play too. Please don't stress yourselves XD

Besides that, the Church anniversary is just around the corner too!! We are going to celebrate our church's 25th anniversary on September 19. Mark that down on your calendars! It will be a combined worship service too :)

We, are to perform during the church anniversary! Yes, people, we are going to perform a beautiful song called "The Voice of Hope". I embedded the song below:

As Tim said, there will be some who will play the instruments, some who will sing etc... we'll figure that out soon.
So, come for practice this Saturday, 4th of September at 1.30 (note the time change)! We need all the youths we can get.

Okay, this is the end of my post. Wishing everyone a good weekend! Happy Holidays!

Awakening Camp Re-cap!

*edited: Added 'Jesus Messiah'

Honestly, I miss camp.

(Thanks to Chris and Aunty Daniella for the pictures!)

However, I hope all of you are basking in the afterglow of the awesome Meta camp we just attended! :pandaGeli_05:

I don't know about you guys but the camp is very memorable to me and it was a mind-blowing experience. I learned a lot of new things about the word of God from Chris Abner's sermon; I made great new friends and got to know more about those I was already friends/acquaintances with; I had fun playing games that were kinda challenging; I sung my heart out to new and familiar songs; but most importantly, I was AWAKENED! I realize that I have to change how I'm living certain aspects of my life and I know that God will be guiding me throughout the journey of life.
I hope that the message of "being awakened spiritually" has been delivered successfully to the campers just as it has been successfully delivered to me.

A big thank you to the camp committee and counselors for their hard work! Hehe, rest assured we had an enjoyable time (despite the rainy weather) :pandaGeli_25:

If you have any feedbacks/comments on the camp, you can leave a wall post at the camp's event wall.

To God be the glory!

********
Now, I bet almost all of you love the songs we were singing during camp right? You went back home, and after resting you switched on your computer and went to Youtube to search up the songs we sang... didn't you? Don't deny it :P

Here, I have compiled some of the songs we sang and included an excerpt of the lyrics of the song for your convenience.
I hope you guys will not only listen to the song because the tune is nice, but also ponder upon the very meaningful lyrics! :)

Instructions: To play the song, just click the play button just like how you would start loading your usual Youtube video. The ones I posted here are only audio. If you want to make the volume higher or lower you have to enlarge to full screen and change from there. Sorry! I did not post the video (visual) because the page may take a longer time to load.

To You and You alone
Awake, my soul
Awake, my soul and sing
For the world You love
Your will be done
Let Your will be done in me

We are a chosen generation
Rise up holy nation
God, we live for you
You have called out of darkness
Into light so glorious
God, we live for You

Jesus Lord of Heaven

Your love is deeper than any ocean
Higher than the heavens
Reaches beyond the stars in the sky
Jesus, Your love has no bounds

The Stand

I'll stand
With arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the One who gave it all
I'll stand
My soul Lord, to You surrendered
All I am is Yours

You Alone Can Rescue

You alone can rescue
You alone can save
You alone can lift us from the grave
You came down to find us, led us out of death
To You alone belongs the highest praise

Here is Our King

Here is our King
Here is our Love
Here is our God who's come to bring us back to Him
He is the one
He is Jesus

Jesus Messiah

Jesus Messiah
Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer
Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners
The ransom from heaven
Jesus Messiah, Lord of all

(short version)
Thank You for Hearing Me

Thank You for loving me
Thank You for loving me
Thank You for loving me
Thank You for loving me

Undo

Turn me around
Pick me up
Undo what I've become
Bring me back to the place
Of forgiveness and grace
I need You, need Your help
I can't do this myself
You're the only one who can undo
What I've become

Come Home Running

So come home running
His arms are open wide
His name is Jesus
He understands
He is the answer
You are looking for
So come home running
Just as you are

Absolutely

Jesus you have me completely
Every breath that I breathe
I am absolutely in love
Jesus I am yours forever
All of me surrenders
I am absolutely in love with You

Our God

And if our God is for us
Then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us
Then what could stand against

I Could Sing of Your Love Forever

I could sing of Your love forever
I could sing of Your love forever
I could sing of Your love forever
I could sing of Your love forever

Every Move I Make

Every move I make I make in You
You make me move Jesus
Every breath I take I breathe in You

Well, these are the ones that I can recall. If there are anymore I left out, please tell us. Thanks!

Don't forget, we are having a post-camp party on the 3rd of July (I think). So, keep your ears and eyes open for any additional information coming soon :mGelak:

God bless!

musica

hey tim here : )

really enjoyed the PetroSains trip, though we were not able to go into the real deal, but the music exhibition was alright - it was a fun time to spend the time with a great bunch of youths : ) and it was definitely even nicer that we met Pui Man, a friend of Joanne who came along with us! and not to mention the iphone that we were so kind to help return to the owner!

anyways, learning more about music was interesting. music has such a way of connecting us with our emotions. there are soo many kinds of music out there! and we all have different 'tastes' and likes of different genres. makes me think of how creative God really is - that He hotwired our brains to come out with arts such as music.

the Psalmists writes I will sing of steadfast love and justice; to you, O Lord, I will make music. (Psalm 101:1) and there are so many other Psalms written as songs of praise to God.

we do not only have to sing when we're happy. Paul and Silas in Acts 16:25-34 sang hymns while being locked up in jail and when everything seems to not work out. it gives a whole new perspective to the song 'Blessed Be Your Name' doesn't it?

what if we really meant what we sang, would we just stand by and mouth the lyrics - or would we connect with the meaning of the song and to give due praise to the One who deserves it all. after all, He did create music. i challenge you to sing with all your heart and to really mean what we sing - and see how it changes our lives.

ah, all in all, a good day to spend a Saturday afternoon.

prayer walk

tim here,

i think prayer and walking comes hand in hand. by praying as well as walking - we're putting our relationship with God in different aspects of our life.

as our youths go about on their prayer walk, i pray that they'll realize how powerful prayer can actually be - that it may not be confined just to exams and healings and blessings. a prayer walk can also show us the needs that are around us and how are we going to be part of meeting that need.

nobody said prayers are confined to our beds or dinner tables - the practice of praying/talking to God anytime is really awesome, and you'll realize that you'll see that something that you normally walk by in a whole new different light when you're walking in prayer with God.

let's put prayer more a part of our lives, and oh! don't close your eyes! open them in prayer and to see the needs around us!

from BOWLING to MORNING PRAYER WALK

Hey guys, how is everybody doing? It was really fun to be able to hang out together and have a bowl last Saturday. I mean seriously! Hope you guys enjoy it too=)

COMING UP NEXT SATURDAY(17th April 2010)
MORNING PRAYER WALK
8.00am - 9.30am
Meet At Church

This may be a little different from what we usually do. Knowing that many of us usually sleep in during Saturday mornings to recharge ourselves for the rest of the week, let us now then challenge ourselves in following the footsteps of our Teacher by gathering to pray together as a body of believers.

Hope that everyone is reading their bible and spending time with God everyday. Let us also pray for each other as well=) Looking forward to see you guys this Saturday!

Easter Day

Phoebe, fellow SOAR member here.
If I may...I would
just like to wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER DAY!
Let us keep in our hearts the love of Christ and that victorious win over sin!

How awesome is that?

To know a God like that. It just blows my mind every single time I hear the story.

Now. I would just like to share the sunset from my home. Note, that it was taken TODAY. I would have uploaded the sunrise too (I saw it after the sunrise prayer) but unfortunately no digital graphic capturing devices were around at that time. But I must say that it was SPECTACULAR.

View of the city of KL. Remember also to pray for this city.

Here's a few Bible verses talking about the resurrection of our Lord.

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.

Romans 1:4-5
And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.

Romans 6:8-11
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:10-12
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

1 Peter 1:3
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead...

Matthew 27:50-53
And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

Please do read your Bibles everyday, as I myself am burdened to do so now. Life may be tough for you now or you might be busy with schoolwork or tuition. But remember the cross.

Now Jesus had plenty to do (I'm sure He was a very busy man) but He came down as flesh, lived among sinners and died for you and me. Fifteen or thirty minutes wouldn't hurt for a day. Knowing and reading more about God is priceless. And I pray that you will have that eagerness in your heart to just want to know more about God.

In my prayers.
God bless!

SOAR this Saturday will be heading out BOWLING!
So bring your friends and come for a ball of a time! :)

The Following Session on March 6th!

Bible Study: Homework (February 27th)

Hey guys and girlzz, how are ya'll?! Hope all things are going well for you!
Last Saturday, we went to Teacher Mun Wai's house for a bible study session on "homework". Well.. .. .. she didn't exactly talked a whole lot on homework, but homework was part of this big picture she "painted" for us.. .. ..

We arrived at her place at 2.30-ish. We were given two pails and nets before being sent on a mission to kidnap some kiddy fishes within half an hour. oh yes, kiddies, 50 of 'em all! muahaha - 50+ small little tiny fishes(guppies) that ended up at teacher mun wai's house - Don't worry they're still alive.

After that, Teacher Mun Wai spoke on the greatest commandment which is taken from Mark 12:28-31(NIV)
One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"

29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'There is no commandment greater than these."

Love.. Love.. Love.. So how do we show this love? One of the ways that we can show love is through the actions we do:

1) By obeying Him

If we say we love Him, we should learn how to obey Him. we can look at an example given in,

Colossians 3:23

23Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

this passage talks about slaves submitting to their masters. However, we can look at the heart, purpose and intent of people doing these things on earth. Before we continue, lets also look at

Matthew 5:16

16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

God has given us roles to play in life. Most of us are students, daughters and sons, brothers and sisters, or even brothers and sisters in Christ. It is when we play our roles well, people can see God in us and that is the way that we can show this love to God. It wouldn't be right if we were to say that we love God and yet neglect all our responsibilities for that is not waht God wants of us.

As we soar through this month, how well do you think you're playing this role as a student? Let's do our best in everything that we do that they world around us may see God in us and praise the Father in Heaven.

2) By Trusting Him

The second thing that we can do to show love is to trust in God as we become obedient to Him. ESPECIALLY, when we feel like we're failing. It's easy to trust when things are calm and easy, the test comes when things are falling apart and feel tough.

In all that we do, we should always trust Him to lead you on and that He has a purpose for everything that happens. Therefore, do not give up even when you feel like doing so! You have a God whom created the world and loves you to fall on, depend on, and trust on!

That's all for the bible study, hope that all we learn together as brothers and sisters remain in our hearts and mind as we live out our lives as Students Of Absolute Righteousness!

Let's stay near the Word with our knees to the earth.

*BIBLE STUDY CONTENT TAUGHT ON THAT DAY WERE AMENDED FOR THIS BLOG FOR EASIER UNDERSTANDING.
